A native of Boston, Massachusetts, Joe began his career working in country clubs and hotels in New England, including the famed Parker House Hotel. He moved to the Orlando area to assist in the opening of the Downtown Omni Hotel and shortly after the opening of Universal Studios Orlando. Subsequently, Joe was instrumental in the opening of Orlando’s premier night time destination, CITYWALK.
Chef Alfano has over 30 years experience in the culinary profession, during which he has opened more than 100 restaurants and food service venues. His distinguished career includes numerous culinary awards, including:
- 2010 ACF/CFC Chef of the Year
- 2008 ACF/CFC Culinarian of the Year
- 2008 Kitchen Contender Winner at the CaterSource National Convention in Las Vegas
- 2009 ACF Gold Medal Winner of the Signature Beef Competition held at the FRLA International Food Expo
Since 2000, Joe has been very involved with the American Culinary Federation/Central Florida Chapter. He is currently on the Board of Directors as the Communications Chairperson managing the chapter’s website: www.acfcfc.org.
